Minimum and maximum age limits for admission are 16 and 40 years respectively, as on the 1st of August of the year of admission. A 5-year relaxation in the upper age limit is admissible for widows of ex-servicemen and for Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe candidates.
Candidates are expected to maintain a high standard of discipline both inside and outside the campus. Trainees must strictly follow the rules and regulations of the Institute. Any infringement or misconduct may attract strong punitive action, including rustication.
Candidates must maintain at least 80% attendance to be permitted to appear in examinations. A trainee who remains absent for 10 consecutive days without prior information will be treated as an absconder.
Uniform and ID card are compulsory. Students who do not comply are liable to a penalty of ₹25 per day, up to a maximum of 10 days in a month.
